Abstract

This paper explores the increasing integration of artificial intelligence in social sciences and humanities research, framing these devices not as neutral tools but as socially situated semiotic and epistemological artifacts. By reflecting on the emergence of a computational paradigm in the humanities, this article draws upon debates within cognitive computing to discuss the pragmatic and ethical implications of using these systems in knowledge production. The analysis thus aims to contribute to a critical reflection on the challenges facing research in light of these technologies.
